Opening autumn 2026
The four seasons
In our new spa, contrasts come to life
In Bohuslän, everything shifts quickly.
The weather. The light. The feeling in your body.
Our new spa is shaped by the seasons – and by the experiences that come with them. Here, you move from winter to spring, from summer to autumn. From brrr to aaah.
A spa journey through the changing seasons, shaped by the sea and truly one of a kind in Sweden.
YOUR BUBBLE IN BOHUSLÄN. WHERE LIFE UNFOLDS
A new spa experience is taking shape – inspired by the raw nature of Bohuslän, its contrasts, and the shifting seasons.
During construction, our spa will be closed from 11 May to 15 June.
From 15 June to 11 August, we welcome you to our relaxation area with pool, meditation pool, outdoor hot tubs, sauna raft and our sunny outdoor lounge – a place to land and unwind throughout the day.
From 11 August, we open additional parts of our indoor space, including sauna, hot tub, foot baths and our warm rocks.
In autumn 2026, we open the doors to a completely new and unique spa experience.
Booking for our new spa experience launches on 30 April, but you can get early access and a special launch rate on our packages by signing up for our newsletter.
We look forward to creating something truly special together with you.

PRESS RELEASE
Marstrands Havshotell continues its development journey – investing in a new spa opening in autumn 2026
Marstrands Havshotell continues its development journey and is now investing in a brand-new spa, set to open in autumn 2026. Inspired by the contrasts of nature and the changing seasons, a new experience is taking shape – one where social connection, atmosphere and the overall experience take centre stage.
Since opening in 2011, Marstrands Havshotell has evolved with a clear inspiration from Bohuslän’s rugged cliffs, the sea and the raw environment that defines the destination.
In 2016, the next step was taken with the opening of the Sillsalteriet event space – an environment inspired by the herring era and Marstrand’s rich heritage. Today, Sillsalteriet is a unique venue and a natural choice for weddings, large events and groups seeking a distinctive dining experience.
In 2018, a major expansion marked a significant milestone. With 46 new hotel rooms, expanded conference facilities and new restaurant environments, the foundations were laid for the hotel’s development into a leading destination on Sweden’s west coast. The expansion drew inspiration from the shipyard’s history and the industrial heritage that has shaped Marstrand – an influence that still defines the hotel’s expression today.
This investment opened up entirely new opportunities to host everything from smaller private gatherings to large-scale conferences and events, in close collaboration with local activity partners.
Now, the next step is being taken.
“We have built our story step by step – from the nature of Bohuslän, through the herring era reflected in Sillsalteriet, to the shipyard’s industrial heritage in our expansion. Now we take the next step, letting the contrasts of nature and the seasons fully shape our new spa experience,” says Caroline Eliasson Bredelius, CEO of Marstrands Havshotell.
The new spa draws inspiration from the dramatic nature of the west coast, where a single day can hold calm seas, strong winds, warmth, cold and rapid shifts in atmosphere. That feeling is now brought indoors – becoming an integral part of the experience.
Here, all seasons meet under one roof. Through contrasts, temperatures and varied experiences, an environment is created where guests move between warmth and cold, stillness and energy – inspired by the rhythm of nature.
The social aspect is at the heart of the concept. A spa is not only a place for recovery, but a place for experiences – for connecting, for simply being, for enjoying the moment together with others. But also for stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something new.
Guests will be able to move between sauna environments, warm baths and refreshing contrasts – such as cold plunges and elements of snow – reflecting the shifting conditions along the Bohuslän coast.
As a central part of the spa, a new relaxation area will be created around a fireplace – a warm and vibrant gathering place where guests can meet, linger and let the experience unfold. Adjacent to this, a central bar will further enhance the social atmosphere.
At the same time, new technology and innovative installations will be integrated, adding unique features and experiences to the spa.
“The combination of natural contrasts and modern technology will create a spa experience that truly stands out,” says Caroline Eliasson Bredelius.
As part of the investment, new environments within the hotel will also be developed. Adjacent to the restaurant, a completely new lounge area will be created – a flexible space equally suited for relaxed after works, private dining, spontaneous meetings or simply a moment to unwind, with views of the harbour and Marstrandsön.
The space will be designed to adapt between different uses – from a social meeting place to an experience-driven area where guests can challenge each other to a game of table tennis or gather around the same table to share a meal.
As a hotel, Marstrands Havshotell is already a destination in itself – located in the unique setting of Marstrand. With this new investment, the hotel continues to develop the overall experience and create new reasons to visit Marstrand all year round.
