Bubbles in the glas & a lobster on the fork

Saturday 3rd October

Lobster by the sea

There are days that stand out a little extra on the calendar.
Days when the air turns crisp, the sea grows deep and dark – and the scent of freshly cooked lobster drifts across the harbour.

At Marstrands Havshotell, we love days like these.

That’s why we invite you to a full day where lobster takes centre stage – from the docks to the plate.

Free admission. No registration required.

LOBSTER BOIL ON THE DOCK

11:30–14:00

The day begins by the sea. On our dock, large pots are steaming, salt hangs in the air and the scent of freshly cooked lobster drifts in with the sea breeze.

Here, you can follow the process as freshly caught lobster is prepared the traditional way. Our chefs share local traditions and small secrets behind the perfect flavour, while stories from the early morning fishing trips come to life beside the boiling pots. Watch as the shellfish slowly turn their signature deep red.

The soundtrack for the day is set by troubadour Jalle, creating the perfect atmosphere.

TALK: THE BLACK GOLD OF THE SEA

Blå Salen | 16:00–17:00 | Free admission

Later in the afternoon, join us for an inspiring talk about the lobster – the pride of Bohuslän and perhaps the world’s most legendary shellfish.

Janne Kollberg generously shares his knowledge and passion for the sea, offering insights into the lobster’s life in the cold waters, the traditions and regulations surrounding the fishing season, and why Bohuslän lobster is so highly regarded internationally.

A story filled with knowledge, tradition and a deep love for the sea.

TASTE THE SEA – OUTDOORS

11:30am–2pm

Weather permitting, we’ll be serving outdoors, with the sea as our closest neighbour and the silhouette of Marstrand as the backdrop.

Here, you’ll be able to enjoy a selection of seaside favourites with lobster taking centre stage:

  • Freshly cooked lobster with classic accompaniments

  • Wine-steamed mussels

  • Oysters

  • Hot dogs for younger guests – or anyone craving something from land rather than sea

Perhaps paired with a glass of wine or something sparkling to elevate the experience even further.

Simple, honest food where the ingredients speak for themselves – and every bite carries the taste of the sea.

Janne Kollberg will also be on site throughout the day to answer questions and share stories from life at sea.
